Gwyneth Paltrow calls daughter Apple ‘definition of a dream girl’ as she celebrates her 22nd birthday

Gwyneth Paltrow celebrated her daughter Apple Martin turning 22 with a heartfelt tribute on social media, calling her the “ultimate dream girl” in a loving birthday message.

The Goop founder marked the occasion by posting a glamorous image from Apple’s recent modeling campaign for Chloé. In the vintage-inspired photo, Apple appeared sun-kissed with flowing blonde hair adorned with flowers and accessorized with a signature gold necklace from the brand.

Alongside the photo, Paltrow praised her daughter’s personality, describing her as funny, goofy, kindhearted and beautiful, while expressing how deeply she loves her. Fans quickly flooded the comments with birthday wishes and compliments, with many pointing out how much Apple resembles her famous mother and admiring the photo’s retro 1970s aesthetic.

Apple is the eldest child of Paltrow and Chris Martin, the Coldplay frontman whom the actress was married to from 2003 until 2016. The former couple also share son Moses Martin, 20.

The birthday celebration comes shortly after Apple graduated from Vanderbilt University, where she spent the last four years studying away from home. Paltrow has been open over the years about how emotional it has been watching her children grow up and leave the family nest.

Moses is currently studying at Brown University, while Paltrow’s stepchildren through husband Brad Falchuk are also attending prestigious universities — Brody at Yale University and Izzy at Cornell University.

Paltrow has previously admitted that dropping Apple off at college was incredibly difficult emotionally, recalling that she cried constantly and felt physically sick during the transition. However, she later said seeing her daughter thrive independently made the experience worthwhile.

Ahead of Moses leaving for college in 2024, the actress also reflected on how central motherhood has been to her identity. She explained that for nearly two decades her life revolved around her children’s schedules and milestones, making the thought of an empty nest both heartbreaking and inevitable at the same time.
