Nicole Kidman opened up about her life after her separation from Keith Urban while posing for a bold new photoshoot for Variety. In the striking images, the 58-year-old actress appeared in black lace underwear, at one point wrapped only in a towel and posing in high heels while sitting in a bathtub.
During the interview, Kidman addressed the end of her marriage to the country music star, whom she was married to from 2006 until their reported split in 2025. Although she did not go into detail about the breakup, the Oscar-winning actress emphasized that her focus remains on protecting her family and maintaining a sense of unity.

She explained that she prefers not to discuss the situation publicly out of respect for those close to her. Instead, Kidman said she is concentrating on moving forward while maintaining the bond she shares with her loved ones. The actress noted that despite the changes in her personal life, she still considers their household a family and intends to keep it that way.
Kidman and Urban share two daughters — Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15 — whom she described as both very different from each other yet deeply connected. According to the actress, watching her daughters grow up has been an emotional experience, as the girls she once raised are now becoming young women.
Reflecting on her emotional state following the separation, Kidman said she believes in always moving toward what feels positive. She admitted that during the period when the divorce was being finalized last year, she became more withdrawn and kept a low profile while dealing with personal matters behind the scenes.

After the split, Kidman spent time traveling with family and friends, using the experience as an opportunity to reconnect and reflect. One of the most memorable trips she described was a journey to Antarctica, where she and her companions saw wildlife such as penguins and sea lions. She also shared plans to visit the Galápagos Islands and hike the famous trails of Machu Picchu in Peru.
For the actress, travel has always been an important part of life and a way to explore the world beyond Hollywood. She recalled earlier adventures that took her to remote regions, including a trip near the Algerian border with filmmaker Werner Herzog, where she rode camels while working on a project.
Kidman said she has spent much of her life traveling internationally for work and personal exploration, which allowed her children to experience different cultures, languages, and traditions from a young age. According to the actress, she and her daughters have now visited all seven continents together.

Looking ahead, Kidman says she feels optimistic about the future and is ready to embrace a new chapter. With several major projects on the horizon, she described 2026 as a year she is eager to step into with renewed energy.
Among her upcoming roles is the series Scarpetta on Amazon Prime Video, where she plays a medical examiner inspired by the bestselling novels of Patricia Cornwell. The actress said preparing for the role involved learning about forensic procedures, including autopsy scenes, which she surprisingly found fascinating.
Later this year, Kidman will reunite with Sandra Bullock in the sequel Practical Magic 2. The two actresses first worked together in the original 1998 film and have maintained a close friendship ever since. Kidman explained that the chance to collaborate with Bullock again was one of the main reasons she agreed to return for the sequel.
In addition, Kidman is currently filming the third season of the series Special Ops: Lioness, created by Taylor Sheridan. Her co-stars include Zoe Saldaña and Morgan Freeman.

The actress also spoke emotionally about the loss of her mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, who passed away in September 2024 at the age of 84. Kidman learned of her mother’s death while attending the Venice Film Festival, where she had been scheduled to receive an award for her role in Babygirl. She immediately left the event to be with her family.
Kidman reflected on how her mother’s life and ambitions continue to inspire her. She explained that Janelle came from a generation of women who often lacked opportunities to fully pursue their professional dreams. Because of that, the actress feels motivated to live boldly and make the most of the opportunities she has.
She even shared a small personal tradition she associates with her late mother: spotting ladybugs. Kidman explained that whenever she sees one, she likes to imagine it as a sign that her mother is nearby — a comforting thought she sometimes shares with her daughters, even if they remain skeptical.
