David Hasselhoff, 73, sparks further health fears as Baywatch icon seen in wheelchair with bandaged ankle

David Hasselhoff has sparked renewed concern among fans after being seen using a wheelchair during a recent outing in Los Angeles amid his ongoing recovery from surgery.

The 73-year-old Baywatch legend, best known for portraying lifeguard Mitch Buchannon, appeared noticeably frail as he exited a physical therapy session this week. Hasselhoff, sporting gray hair and a bandaged ankle, was photographed leaving the appointment shortly after undergoing knee and hip replacement procedures.

Accompanying him was his wife, Hayley Roberts, 45, who stayed close by and assisted the actor as he made his way to a waiting vehicle. At one point, Hasselhoff leaned on Roberts for support while getting into the car.

Although a Baywatch reboot is currently in development, Hasselhoff has remained largely out of the public eye. His limited appearances over the past year have prompted growing concern, especially after recent images showed him struggling to stand and relying on trekking poles during a walk.

According to representatives, the actor is recovering well following his surgeries and is focused on rehabilitation. Hasselhoff had previously mentioned plans for knee surgery after being spotted limping through Los Angeles International Airport last summer and later using a wheelchair during travel.

The actor’s health struggles come after a difficult personal period. In March 2025, his ex-wife and former Baywatch co-star, Pamela Bach, died at age 62. The two, who were married from 1989 to 2006, shared daughters Taylor and Hayley.

Despite recent concerns, Hasselhoff continues to recover with support from loved ones, particularly Roberts, whom he married in 2018 after several years together.

Despite recent health setbacks, fans remain hopeful that Hasselhoff will make a steady recovery. The actor, who became a global star through Baywatch and Knight Rider, has faced personal and physical challenges over the years but continues to focus on rehabilitation. With the support of his wife and family, many are wishing the television icon strength as he works toward regaining his health.
