In the small German town of Möringen, there’s an extraordinary house that grabs everyone’s attention. Known as Haus in Schwarz (The Black House), it’s completely painted in matte black, from its roof to its foundation. However, it wasn’t always this way.
Back in 2008, artists Erik Sturm and Simon Jung came up with a bold idea: to paint an old house, slated for demolition, entirely black. The color was meant to symbolize a farewell to the building.
But, as fate would have it, the house was never torn down. Instead, it became a surprising tourist attraction, drawing visitors intrigued by its unusual appearance. Over time, it even became a symbol of the town, admired by locals and tourists alike.
What was once destined for demolition now stands as a piece of living art, breathing new life into the town of Möringen!
