Prince William and Kate Middleton have delighted the public by introducing a new and much-loved member of their family.

The Prince and Princess of Wales shared the announcement on Instagram, revealing that their family has welcomed a brown cocker spaniel puppy named Otto. In their post, they wrote warmly: “Welcome to the family, Otto! He turned one today,” marking the occasion with a joyful message to their followers.

Otto also made his first appearance in a separate family photograph shared by the royal couple. The image, taken by photographer Matt Porteous during a private holiday in Cornwall, shows William and Kate relaxing on the grass with their children. Alongside them are Otto and his mother, Orla, capturing a relaxed and intimate moment of family life.

Orla joined the family in 2020, originally gifted to Kate by her brother James Middleton following the death of their previous dog, Lupo. Lupo had also been a gift from James as a wedding present in 2012 and remained a cherished companion until his passing in November 2020.

According to The Telegraph, Otto has already brought great happiness to the Wales children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—especially during what has been described as a challenging period for the family amid Kate’s health treatment earlier in the year.

The new addition has been warmly received by royal fans, who praised the family’s affectionate update and the touching glimpse into their private life. The photos highlight a softer, more personal side of the royal household, showing moments of comfort, togetherness, and joy shared with their pets.

With Otto now part of the family, the Wales household continues a long-standing tradition of beloved dogs playing a central role in their home life, bringing comfort and companionship through both happy and difficult times.
