After a heart episode, Angelina’s father, Chris Harvey, called her from the hospital, asking if she could help him in Austin, Texas. Unfortunately, Angelina couldn’t make the trip as she had no more paid time off, so she asked her son, Peter, to go instead. After some persuasion, Peter agreed, but he had his own plans in mind. He thought that he could soon inherit his grandfather’s house and make it his own.

When Chris returned home from the hospital, he was stunned to find his house nearly empty, with furniture thrown outside and plastic sheets covering parts of the home. Peter told him they were remodeling the house as a surprise, assuring him his belongings were in storage.

Chris felt touched by what seemed like a thoughtful gesture, but everything changed when he overheard Peter and his wife, Hannah, arguing. They revealed their true intentions—they believed Chris would soon die and that they would inherit the house.

Chris, determined to teach them a lesson, pretended he was going to move into a nursing home and give them the house. Peter and Hannah, thrilled by the idea, poured their time and money into finishing the remodel. They even hosted a housewarming party, believing the house was already theirs. But during the event, Chris stood up, made a toast, and revealed he knew exactly what they had been planning. He declared he would keep the house for himself and later donate it to charity, leaving Peter and Hannah humiliated in front of their friends.

Peter tried to talk Chris into changing his mind, but Chris refused, kicking everyone out of his house. The next day, Chris told Angelina what her son had done. She was heartbroken by Peter’s actions but understood that Chris had every right to do as he pleased with his property. Chris warned her to be careful, as he had seen firsthand how selfish and deceitful Peter and Hannah were.
Chris lived for another 11 years, enjoying the house that had been his home for decades. As per his final wishes, his lawyer sold the house and donated the proceeds to a charity for senior citizens, ensuring his legacy would continue helping others in need.
