“The idea to remake old furniture came to me this winter. At some point I just wanted to get rid of my cabinet furniture. It didn’t suit me in terms of design or the eco-friendliness of the materials. But new wooden furniture has a very high price tag, and it looks like a new product. And I wanted something truly rare.
For me, as a designer by profession, the creative component of the process is important. And also – for the thing to be unique in its kind and fit perfectly into the interior of my home.
Before:

Since I need this furniture not just for the interior, but also for everyday use, its functionality has to be completely restored. But, by the way, old chests of drawers from the 50-60s of the last century are much more spacious and comfortable than modern ones! Stronger or not – judge for yourself. Modern cabinet furniture is made of chipboard, and old furniture is made of wood or good quality plywood. But what is more environmentally friendly – old furniture – that’s for sure!
After:

And of course, it’s nice to have a thing “with history”. Perhaps that’s why retro is always in fashion and always fits well into the interior. It’s aesthetics, an artistic approach to mass production of furniture. This is exactly what, in my opinion, modern pieces lack.”
