What was once an old, neglected clawfoot bathtub—chipped, rusted, and covered in peeling paint—has been given a second life as a charming and unique outdoor bench. This stunning upcycle project proves that even the most worn-out pieces can be reborn with creativity and vision.
Rescuing the Forgotten
The original bathtub had clearly seen better days. Its enamel coating was chipped, the metal base showed significant signs of rust, and the overall appearance made it seem destined for the scrapyard. But rather than discarding it, a visionary DIYer saw an opportunity to create something extraordinary.

A Bold Makeover
The transformation involved carefully cutting one side of the tub to create an open bench shape. The remaining body was then cleaned, sanded, and painted in soft, inviting hues of white and pastel blue. The clawfoot legs, once barely visible under layers of decay, were restored to their former glory.
A Cozy Outdoor Retreat
To make the piece not only beautiful but also functional, a plush seat cushion was custom-fitted to the interior, covered in an elegant patterned fabric. Striped accent pillows in nautical shades of blue and white added a touch of coastal charm. Placed in a tranquil garden setting, the newly transformed bench invites relaxation with a soft “relax” pillow as the final touch.
This project is a true testament to the power of upcycling and creativity. What was once a forgotten relic is now a centerpiece of outdoor décor, proving that with a little imagination, any old item can find new purpose and beauty.
