Restoring a rarity is an extremely difficult task. However, some people are not afraid of it. Love for a Soviet car can overcome all the vicissitudes of fate.
The vintage 1950 car had been sitting outdoors for many years. As a result, its condition left much to be desired: the body was covered in rust, and many parts had lost their integrity.

However, the documents were preserved in perfect order, which gave hope for a full restoration.
The car was transported by car carrier several thousand kilometers, after which the complete disassembly of the body began. Some elements were completely rotted – their restoration was pointless.
Therefore, the owner had to look for original spare parts to preserve the historical authenticity of the car.

The first stage was the complete sandblasting of the body. Without this, the restoration would not have made sense – it was necessary to get rid of the rust down to the base.
Gradually, the old parts were replaced with original ones found in different parts of the country, and sometimes even beyond its borders. The financial costs were enormous, but the car was restored not for sale, but “for the soul.”

When the body was completely cleaned and prepared, painting began. The choice fell on white – an unexpected, but very successful option.
Then came the painstaking assembly stage. Particular attention was paid to the chrome elements, which in the mid-20th century were an integral part of even budget models.
Each element was carefully restored and installed in its place, returning the car to its former luxury.

The work on the interior was no less complex. It was necessary not only to replace the upholstery and the dashboard, but also to restore the roof of the convertible.
The original fabric top was almost completely destroyed: the wooden elements turned to dust, the metal parts were barely preserved.
It was not possible to find technical documentation on the design, so the process of restoring the roof became a real challenge.

Despite all the difficulties, the soft top was recreated with maximum authenticity. The shade of the fabric may have been slightly different from the original, but the overall aesthetics and construction remained true to the historical appearance of the car.
