Imagine an apartment where history lives in every corner. This retro-inspired home doesn’t feature modern furniture, but rather a Soviet chandelier from the ’80s, restored armchairs from the ’60s GDR, and luxurious Prague-made chairs over 60 years old. The new owner, a young woman, teamed up with a designer to revitalize this once dreary three-room apartment, which had old, worn-out parquet, faded wallpaper, and peeling paint.

Rather than erasing its history, she chose to preserve its charm through a thoughtful renovation. Today, her home is a blend of local furniture, vintage treasures, and one-of-a-kind pieces designed from scratch. “I poured my heart into this project,” says the designer. “The result is an atmospheric space, and I’m happy it has such wonderful owners.” Let’s take a virtual tour of this one-of-a-kind retro apartment!

In the living room, olive and salmon hues complement vintage Hera armchairs from the ’60s GDR. A small work nook adds to the cozy feel. The kitchen, while not part of the living area, has a wide opening that fosters a “social effect” and is equipped with dining chairs from 1960s Czechoslovakia. The custom kitchen set was made by a carpentry workshop.

The bedroom, decorated in serene beige tones, features a unique bay window and a spacious dressing room. The bathroom, with matching tiles from the kitchen, includes a bathtub and stylish accessories. The hallway boasts a large wardrobe for outerwear.

This retro apartment is like a portal to the past, filled with character and a reminder of the timeless appeal of vintage design. What do you think of this transformation? Share your thoughts in the comments!
