This suitcase was once not just a thing, but a companion of my mother’s many travels. She took it with her on every trip.
But time had not been kind to it: the worn leather had peeled, the corners had cracked, the locks had rusted. The suitcase looked as if its days were numbered.
However, his mother could not bring herself to throw it away.
We offered to restore the suitcase, but after examining it more closely, we realized that its condition was hopeless. Then we started looking for an alternative and came across many creative ideas on how to give old things a second life.
An old suitcase could be turned into something functional and beautiful. We decided to make an unusual wall cabinet out of it.
To begin with, we cleaned the surface, primed it and covered it with paint using the craquelure technique, giving it an antique vintage effect.
The inside of the suitcase was lined with brightly colored chintz, creating a cozy and warm background. Then small shelves and brackets for glasses were attached inside, so that the suitcase turned into a stylish mini-bar.
When the work was finished, we attached it to the wall in the kitchen, filled it with beautiful glasses and elegant dishes.
Now this suitcase does not just take up space in the closet, but has become an original element of the interior, attracting the attention of guests and evoking warm nostalgia in mom.
She was delighted that her favorite suitcase did not disappear without a trace, but found a new life.
