Adopting a paralyzed pet may not be for everyone, but it can bring immense rewards. Sadly, many disabled animals are abandoned. Lunita, a paralyzed dog, was left on the streets of Salta, Argentina, in May 2014, with only a note explaining her condition. She was found with her hind legs strapped to a broken wheelchair. Fortunately, the rescue group LUBA Salta came to her aid.

Lunita was placed in a foster home, and her story gained attention online. Eventually, a family in the United States adopted her, but due to improper care, she developed severe infections. However, Lunita found a second chance with a new family, who provided her with love and proper medical attention, allowing her to recover.

In her new home, Lunita thrived. She enjoyed her first snowfall, traveled, made new friends, and celebrated her 11th birthday with a special cake. Sadly, her health began to decline after her birthday, and she passed away surrounded by the love of her family.

Despite a life full of hardship, Lunita’s final years were filled with love and happiness, proving the strength of perseverance. Rest in peace, Lunita.
