This boy’s mother knew firsthand what despair meant. She knocked on the doors of hospitals, looked for doctors, wrote letters and knocked on all doors, hoping to find at least some help for her son.
Since birth, Sergei had a rare nasal anomaly – so rare that it was not even noticed on ultrasound. As it turned out later, such a diagnosis occurs only once every ten years.
The operation, which could change the boy’s life, cost a lot of money – and for an ordinary family it was unattainable. But the mother did not give up.
That is why she decided to take a desperate step – she wrote a letter to a TV show, hoping that they would pay attention to their misfortune.
The broadcast with Sergey’s participation touched the hearts of thousands of people. Volunteers, charitable foundations and simply caring viewers began to take active action.
Thanks to their joint efforts, they managed to find a qualified surgeon who was ready to undertake a complex operation. This was a real chance – and the mother and son, despite all the possible risks, did not miss it.
The operation was successful, although there was a long and difficult rehabilitation ahead.
Sergei endured everything steadfastly – after all, he had a dream: to simply be like everyone else, not to catch surprised or mocking glances, but to calmly walk, play and smile.
Today Sergey is a self-confident boy, no different from his peers. He has made real friends, and what is especially pleasing, he has found a hobby – football.
