The Remarkable Discovery of Hidden Treasures: A Fascinating Story
Throughout the years, there have been several stories of people discovering hidden treasure. Before being compelled to leave the nation, one guy set out to find the family property that his father had hidden.
A Father’s Teachings
This man had learned how to uncover concealed goods from his father, but the road was not easy. Given that these things had been buried for seventy years, there were concerns regarding their long-term viability.
Fortunately, the goods were identified, and to their delight, they were discovered to be in excellent shape. The man returned to his childhood house and entered the attic, where he began looking for a little cord tied to one of the wood panels. Opening the shelves with this rope revealed a wonderful collection of possessions from decades before.
Over the years, the guy had been concerned that the house’s frequent roof repairs would have damaged the hidden riches. However, his anxieties were allayed when he discovered seventy gifts meticulously hidden in the attic by his father.
“All of them spoke in the same voice,” he recalled.
Despite his best efforts, he was unable to interpret the English required to remove the boards as his father had planned. Some of the parcels had been opened; others were still wrapped in brown paper. The collection contained newspapers, hat hangers, paintings, skis, paperweights, pencils, umbrellas, school tables, unopened cigarettes, badges, books, socks, and sewing tools. Amazingly, everything was still in working order.
A Museum’s Acquisition
Due to their historical significance, the artifacts are now housed in a museum in the Czech city of Usti nad Labem. The museum director was astounded to uncover such a hidden “German property” in the neighborhood.
“The packages were very cleverly concealed in the skylight vault,” the museum’s director said.
The number of goods that could fit into such a small space was simply astonishing. It took more than an hour to remove everything and inspect the riches.
While Schlattner was unable to keep the riches, he volunteered to help locate the property. Reflecting on the discovery, he stated, “We thought we’d come back one day and find a property there.”
