This man hadn’t washed for over 60 years and lived in a clay hut 😲 He ate raw meat, leftovers found in the trash and drank dirty water. Over the course of 60 years, the man was covered in a multi-layered crust of dirt 😱 But the most interesting thing is that he was practically healthy.

Amu Haji, originally from Iran, became famous as a man who did not wash for more than six decades. Why did he refuse water and soap?
In his youth, Amu Haji experienced a strong emotional shock– according to various sources, in his youth he was rejected by a girl, and he decided to leave society and settle in the desert.
Over time, he developed a phobia of water. He believed that if he washed himself, he would definitely get sick and die. So he avoided any contact with water – even rain.

Amu Haji lives in a clay hut or simply in a hole dug in the ground. His diet was so extreme that it seems impossible:
- He ate mainly carrion, especially the carcasses of porcupines that he found along the road.
- He also ate spoiled food, rotten meat and scraps found in the trash.
- He’s drunk dirty water from rusty tin cans, considering it “natural” and “healthy”.
- He smoked – and not only tobacco, but sometimes also dry manure , which he stuffed into his pipe.

In 2022, locals persuaded him to take a bath for the first time in decades. Almost immediately after, his greatest fear came true: a few weeks after his bath, Amu Haji died, at the age of about 94.
Perhaps because of the bathing, his biological protection, which had kept him healthy for years, was disrupted, and all these microbes and bacteria caused his death.
