Andre Rene Roussimoff, better known to the world as Andre the Giant, was not always a giant. As a child, he was an ordinary boy, not standing out from his peers.
However, everything changed when Andre turned twelve years old – he began to grow rapidly. His body developed so quickly that he no longer fit into the seat of the school bus.
Despite this, the parents were not worried: they believed that a son of such height would be able to help around the house very well.
By the age of seventeen, Andre had already reached a height of 190 centimeters and weighed about 130 kilograms. It was at this age that he decided to take up wrestling, a sport that was gaining wild popularity at the time.

He chose the stage name “Giant” and began his career. His image of an invincible giant captivated the public.
He easily defeated his opponents, quickly climbing to the top of his career. In 1974, Andre entered the Guinness Book of Records as the highest paid wrestler in the world.

But behind the scenes, Andre’s life was far from easy. Because of his size, he had to order clothes and shoes to his individual measurements.
The feet and joints were under constant strain, requiring special attention. Flights were also a torment: Andre occupied two seats at once, and the toilet stall on the plane was so small that he simply did not fit in it.
Little is known about the wrestler’s personal life. He was never married, but he had a daughter, Robin Christensen-Roussimoff.
Their relationship was hardly close: Andre rarely saw his daughter and provided only minor financial support. According to Jean, by the age of twelve, Robin had seen her father only four times.

However, the giant’s genes were reflected in her appearance. Robin inherited characteristic features: a massive chin, wide cheekbones and small eyes.
Signs of gigantism are also reflected in her build: she is 180 centimeters tall and weighs over 100 kilograms. Like her father, Robin also decided to try herself in wrestling, continuing the work of her famous parent.
