I fly frequently and each time I face the same problem : I am above average in weight and physically cannot fit into a standard seat disturbing without my neighbor .
That’s why I decided to buy two tickets in advance, choosing a seat by the window and the one next to it, so as not to create discomfort for anyone .
I sat down in the seat, fastened my seatbelt, when suddenly a woman with a small child approached me.Without asking , she sat the child down in the empty seat next to me.
I calmly explained that this ticket was also mine,that I had paid for it, and that I needed it for personal reasons .
But the woman began to loudly complain. — ” Seriously? You I feel sorry for the place for the child?!”
Her “ good” neighbors immediately joined her : – ” But he’s a child!”
I felt like they were looking at me with condemnation . But I knew I was right . And then I did what put an end to this performance. Continued in the first comment
I calmly pressed the flight attendant call button and explained the situation. I showed two boarding passes and added:
” Either you find other seats for this passenger, or I ask you to invite the captain and draw up an official report on interference in paid seats . This is a violation of the rules of carriage.”
Everything happened quickly. The stewardess called the senior flight attendant. After a short conversation with the captain , the woman and her child were taken off the plane . As it turned out, this was not the first time she had pulled such ” tricks” – only she had been lucky before .
As the plane prepared to take off, things finally quieted down around me . A few people even apologized — though most simply looked away .
P.S. I bought two seats because I respect myself and others. And not to ” give in” to those who are used to taking things by storm.
