‘Saved by God’: Watch stunning video as man survives a Kansas storm stuck in his car

Storms have devastated the American Midwest, killing at least 28 people and injuring hundreds more.

Over the weekend, devastating weather slammed states such as Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Indiana, Illinois, and Virginia. In Kansas, one man got fantastic footage of a tornado moving through the neighborhood.

His anxiety is palpable, yet he thankfully lived.

On May 18, an estimated 21 tornadoes struck Kansas, causing damage to residences along Interstate 70 near Grinnell. One man, Aden Basgall, was in his car when one of the twisters struck, and he said all he could do was “buckle up and hope for the best.”

Basgall captured video of the storm raging just outside his small vehicle, with severe gusts and rain flinging debris through the air and into fast-moving flood waters below.

“Goodbye, Grinnell,” Basgall says in the video. When it becomes evident that he will survive, he exclaims, “We just got saved by God!”

Meteorologists classified the storm as an EF2 with gusts gusting to 135 mph, causing damage to Basgall’s automobile but no injuries. Overall, AccuWeather estimates that the storms have caused up to $11 million in damage across impacted states.
