Scammers tried to scam my grandma, but she taught them a hard lesson

My grandmother was 76 years old, but age did not affect her intelligence and insight at all. In the past, she was an accountant with many years of experience, and even in retirement she kept her head cool and her mind clear. 😲

Once, scammers tried to deceive her, but they did not know who they were dealing with. Grandma taught them a hard lesson that they will remember for a long time.

I’ll tell you what she did 👇👇

One day, my grandmother received a call from what appeared to be a bank. A polite young voice said that they were trying to apply for a loan in her name, but the bank employees “notified suspicious activity” and were willing to help cancel the transaction.

To do this, they say, you just need to confirm your identity and dictate a few pieces of information: passport details, bank card number, and a code from an SMS.

– Oh, – said the grandmother, – how good that you called. Now I’ll find the card and tell you everything.

But instead, she pulled out an old, long-inactive card and came up with a plan.

At first, she slowly dictated fictitious data, pretending to be confused. A couple of minutes later, an SMS arrived – this time a real one, from a real card that the scammers were trying to use.

But the grandmother did not enter the code. She wrote down the number from which she was called and immediately called the police, reporting everything in detail. Then – to the bank to block the account.

However, she didn’t stop there. She told her niece, who works in IT, about the call.

She quickly found out that the calls were coming from a spoofed number and helped track the IP address from which the attempt to access the online bank was made. The grandmother also passed all this on to the investigator.

A week later, the police called her.

— Thanks to your attentiveness and the information you collected, we found a group of swindlers. Three have already been detained, two of them are repeat offenders.

“Well, that’s great,” the grandmother said calmly. “Let them think about their behavior.”
