He was born without limbs, but it didn’t stop him from raising his family. This Paraguayan has become the epitome of human conviction, demonstrating on a daily basis that tenacity and drive can conquer any challenge. Pablo Acuña was born with underdeveloped upper and lower extremities. As a result, Pablo was left in the care of his mother, who is now over 90 years old but still cares for her son with the love and dedication that only a mother can provide.
Pablo Acuña has always used a wheelbarrow for transportation and even sleeps in it, according to his daughter. “He practically lives in his wheelbarrow, which is like his legs,” adds the younger daughter.
Despite his illness, Pablo has endeavored to live a normal life, which resulted to the birth of two girls, who were his motivation to keep moving forward despite the challenges he faced.
When the youngest daughter was just a few months old, her mother chose to go away, leaving their two daughters in the care of their father, Pablo. “When I was four months old, my mother left us. I am now 26, and my older sister is 29. “My father and grandmother took care of us,” explains Élida Acuña, the youngest member of the family.
The family’s unique predicament was never an excuse for their father’s lack of care and attention. Pablo Acuña, a single parent, is praised by his daughters for being a positive role model. “I’ve never seen my father sad. He is constantly cheery and gives me sound advise, despite the fact that he never attended school. “He is a very intelligent person, and I admire him,” says Élida.
His passion as a father inspired his daughter, Élida, to put her life in another country on wait so that she could return to Paraguay to care for him. “My father is my world. He is my friend, confidant, and the greatest father in the world. That’s why I left Argentina and came to stay, so I could care for him because my grandma is too old to do so,” Pablo’s youngest daughter explained.
Élida Acuña is willing to make the effort to care for her father, despite the fact that he is unable to move independently and need assistance even to use the restroom. She will do anything to please her father’s wishes: “I always strive to give him what he wants if it is within my means. “There are times when I can, and times when I can’t,” Élida explained.
After celebrating his 60th birthday, Pablo Acuña’s tale has spread globally, inspiring people and serving as a role model.
