Birthmarks on the face, especially around the eyes, may be associated with Sturge-Weber syndrome and glaucoma, two conditions that increase the risk of epilepsy, neurological disorders and vision loss.
Unfortunately, Lucas had both conditions, which forced his parents to act immediately.
Over time, port wine stains become more noticeable and can cause serious skin abnormalities. To prevent these complications, Sophie decided to start laser treatments for her son at an early age.
