When Sophie Martin and her partner welcomed their son, they weren’t expecting such a scandal. The baby was born with a port wine stain on his face, which threatened him with serious complications 😟. Concerned, they decided to have laser treatment 💉, which caused reactions on the internet 💻. Responding to criticism, Sophie defended her decision, motivated by love 💖 and the well-being of her child .
Sophie Martin, 34, and her partner Julien Morel, 28, welcomed their son Lucas in 2022. Shortly after his birth, doctors diagnosed him with a rare condition.
Birthmarks on the face, especially around the eyes, may be associated with Sturge-Weber syndrome and glaucoma, two conditions that increase the risk of epilepsy, neurological disorders and vision loss.
Unfortunately, Lucas had both conditions, which forced his parents to act immediately.
Over time, port wine stains become more noticeable and can cause serious skin abnormalities. To prevent these complications, Sophie decided to start laser treatments for her son at an early age.
Although the decision was made for medical reasons, it sparked strong reactions online, with some accusing the mother of thinking more about her own comfort than her child’s well-being.
Upset by the criticism, Sophie defended her decision: “I am criticized for the treatment, but I am sure it was the best option. It is not a question of appearance, my son is beautiful the way he is.”
Luckily, several people supported her, emphasizing that only a mother can know what is best for her child.
Lucas still has a long way to go. After more than twenty medical consultations, work with ten specialists from different fields, numerous examinations, two surgeries and two laser sessions, the little boy remains smiling and full of life.
Determined and self-confident, Sophie Martin is ready to do everything possible to support her son in the upcoming difficulties. For her, every decision she makes has one goal: to preserve Lucas’ health and future, despite outside judgments.
