From Eyesore to Envy: The Bold Renovation No One Saw Coming! (Before/After Photos)

The couple featured in today’s story set out to find a home in the heart of the city. Their search led them to a charming historical building with a worn-out apartment that hadn’t seen a renovation in over half a century. While others passed on the opportunity, this daring duo decided to take the leap.

The apartment measured 54 square meters, but it came with its own set of quirks—most notably, a sagging foundation. This caused a 15 cm difference in window levels and ceiling heights ranging from 3.30 to 3.45 meters across different parts of the home.

Originally, the layout was typical for older buildings: two rooms, a tiny kitchen, and a separate bathroom. But the couple transformed it completely—reworking the space into an open-plan kitchen-living area, a cozy bedroom, a children’s room, and even a walk-in closet.

After removing the outdated finishes, they revealed beautiful brick walls with arched ceilings, which they painted white for a clean, bright look. Scandinavian-style touches were incorporated to complement the historical charm.

The homeowners are passionate about vintage pieces that hold a sense of history. In the kitchen, all walls are now a fresh white—except for one accent wall featuring decorative tiles with unique patterns.

Access to the bathroom is through the living room, separated by a vibrant sliding door. Inside, a chest of drawers and mirror inspired by Asian design reflect the couple’s fascination with Eastern aesthetics, which heavily influenced the renovation.
