A few years ago, 4-year-old Gage had a tough time at his father’s wedding. His father, US Marine Corps Sergeant Joshua Newville, married Senior Airwoman Emily Lehane in Ripley, NY Gage held out until Emily began reading the vows she had written especially for him.
During the ceremony, Gage stood proudly next to his father as he exchanged vows with Emily. Unbeknownst to Gage, Emily had heartfelt vows written specifically for him.
As she began to say them, the emotion took over and Gage burst into tears. Emily began by saying, “I want you to be safe, to do your best, and to be a good person,” but before she could finish, Gage hugged her tightly and couldn’t hold back his tears.
Viewers couldn’t help but let out an “ouch” as Emily comforted Gage, saying,
“Don’t cry, baby.” Emily continued to express her love for Gage, saying, “The last thing I hope you learn is that you are a special boy. You are so smart, so handsome, and so kind to others. You helped me become the woman I am today, and I may not have given you life, but life sure gave me you.”
Both Emily and Joshua had tears in their eyes as they said their vows, and Gage’s reaction added a touch of poignancy to their unforgettable ceremony.
