–Look, they’re moving, they’re alive!– she screamed.
My friend and I just wanted to relax a bit. A quiet evening without surprises, without fuss, away from the daily hustle and bustle. We chose a small, well-known restaurant in the city center – subdued lights, calm music, healthy food… the perfect place to relax.
She ordered a salad with avocado, quinoa and lettuce. It looked delicious – bright, fresh, truly “healthy”. I was tempting her about her “green” preferences when she suddenly froze, fork raised.
“Look…” she whispered and discreetly pointed to the plate.
Nothing strange at first glance. Little black dots on the leaves. Chia seeds? Maybe. They put them everywhere now. But something was wrong.
She brought the plate closer. I leaned in — and then… those dots … started moving.
We called the staff, but what we found out afterwards really shocked us.
Before you eat anything, be careful.

Small, almost transparent lumps with a black dot in the middle slowly moved along the leaves.
We couldn’t believe our eyes. My stomach twisted. Right in front of us were… live insect eggs.
The silence in the hall was broken by a muffled cry. The waiters immediately ran up, visibly confused, babbling some incoherent explanations.
We didn’t take any risks. We called an ambulance.

We were taken to the hospital. Examinations, preventive treatment, bed rest. Thank God, nothing dangerous, but the stress is beyond words.
We didn’t know if she had swallowed anything. We didn’t even know what kind of insect it was.
The restaurant started talking about “accidental contamination” and promised an internal investigation. But such things cannot be covered up with apologies.

Ever since that night, a simple plate of salad has left us feeling anxious. And chia? The sight of those seeds just kills our appetite.
What should have been a warm and pleasant evening turned into an experience we will never forget.
Sometimes, horror hides in the tiniest details…
