Annicka Perry Gustin gathered her ten siblings and her mother—who was already ten weeks pregnant—into the kitchen to share her own life-changing news: she was expecting her first baby.
Her mother, Micka Wright Perry, opened a box to discover a positive pregnancy test. With joyful laughter, she announced, “Annicka is pregnant,” and pulled her daughter into a heartfelt embrace. The emotional moment was captured on video and later shared on Instagram.
In an interview with People, 46-year-old Perry reflected on that special moment: “It was one of the best days of my life.” While she has many cherished memories, she said realizing that her daughter would experience the same joy of motherhood was deeply meaningful. “I truly love being a mom, and knowing Annicka would know that same happiness made it unforgettable.”
Perry, a content creator and sister of Ballerina Farm founder Hannah Neeleman, welcomed her 11th baby, a daughter named Lottie, on July 22. Around the same time, Annicka—who is expecting her own baby this fall—spoke with People alongside her mom about the surprising joys of being pregnant together, the advice they shared, and the excitement of becoming a first-time mom.
Annicka, 25, admitted that when her mom first announced her pregnancy in February, it stirred some complex emotions. “I was a little sad,” she recalled. “I wanted to be pregnant so badly.”
She and her husband had been trying for six months without success and were beginning to question what their journey to parenthood would look like. But just two weeks after her mom’s announcement, Annicka found out she was pregnant too. “It was incredibly exciting for both of us,” she shared.
After announcing their pregnancy online, the pair received overwhelming love and support from fans who were fascinated by their shared experience.
“People were really intrigued and invested in the fact that we were pregnant at the same time,” Perry said. “It took off in a way none of us expected.”
For Annicka, the timing felt surprisingly natural. “It’s not weird to me,” she said. “My mom has been pregnant my entire life. It just kind of fits.” Despite the usual first-time parent worries, she felt reassured having her mom by her side during such a unique chapter.
“I’ve been really anxious about the health of my baby, about whether I’m doing everything right,” Annicka admitted. “But having my mom’s support, advice, and experience has helped me so much.”
From tips on handling morning sickness to dealing with emotional ups and downs to setting up insurance, Annicka said her mother’s guidance has been invaluable.
She even had the chance to accompany her mom to the hospital during Lottie’s birth—an experience she called “eye-opening and incredibly helpful.”
“It definitely triggered some nerves,” she joked. “Like, ‘That’s going to be me in ten weeks!’ But it also made me even more excited.”
Adding to their excitement, Annicka is moving next door to her mom—something Perry is thrilled about, especially for their daughters.
“They’ll be best friends, wearing matching dresses,” Perry said with a smile.
Annicka agreed, adding, “Growing up, I was really close with my cousins—they were some of my best friends. Knowing my daughter will grow up with someone so close in age, right next door, makes me so happy. I think it’s going to be really special for both of them.”
