“Didn’t they teach you to give way to older people?!” a female passenger shouted on the subway: but the guy responded by doing something no one expected 😨😲
Another stop. The carriage rocked slightly, the doors hissed open, and a stream of new passengers poured into the cabin. Some got out, some climbed in with difficulty, with bags, with umbrellas, with fatigue on their faces.
Among those who entered was a woman of about fifty. High heels, a long gray coat, lips lined with lipstick, irritation in her eyes. A heavy leather bag over her shoulder. In short, a lady with the expression “everyone owes me.”
She walked down the aisle and brushed against a guy sitting by the window. Just brushed his knee. Didn’t apologize. But after a few steps she stopped. Looked back. As if she had just realized her righteous mission.

– Well, yes, it’s comfortable for you to sprawl out here! – she said defiantly. – And how are the others supposed to get through, have you thought about it? You’ve got your legs spread out in the passage… Didn’t your parents teach you to respect others?
The guy looked up. The headphones were still in his ears. He calmly took one out, without any unnecessary movements. He looked at her. Not scared, not aggressively – he just looked.
“I’m talking to you!” the woman raised her voice. “What, is it so hard to give up your seat to a woman? Or do you think the world revolves around you?”
The carriage grew quieter. People began to turn around. A couple of teenagers in the corner sat up, preparing for the spectacle. Everything was going according to the usual scenario: now he would say something impudent, she would get even more heated, and then… a conflict, shouting, possibly security.
But the guy suddenly did something very unexpected 😱

The guy suddenly looked down and said quietly:
– Sorry.
He stood up.
And everyone saw how the seat he was parting with slowly leaned back, creaked, slid down under its own weight and pressed into the wall at an acute angle.
The back was held on by one side mount, the cushion had slipped, revealing metal springs and a broken plastic frame. It was clear: it was almost impossible to sit there without holding on.
The guy stood silently, swaying a little, as if his leg was numb.
An awkward silence fell over the car. The woman stood there dumbfounded for a second. Then she looked at the broken seat, then back at the guy.

“I… didn’t know,” she muttered. “Sorry.”
He just nodded, put the earphone back in and turned towards the door.
And the carriage moved off, taking with it an unusual scene – where no one shouted back, but some people felt a little ashamed.
