Dire wolves brought back to life by “Game of Thrones” creator – and it’s NOT fiction!

George R.R. Martin, the mastermind behind Game of Thrones, recently witnessed something straight out of his own fantasy world—real, living dire wolves. Thanks to groundbreaking de-extinction science, pups named Romulus, Remus, and Khaleesi were born, and Martin was among the first to meet them. According to reports, the author was moved to tears when he came face-to-face with the animals that had inspired part of his iconic saga.

These wolves, revived using ancient DNA through advanced gene editing, are said to be larger and more powerful than modern wolves, with stronger jaws and teeth. The achievement, hailed as one of the first successful attempts at reviving an extinct species, took DNA fragments from 13,000- and 72,000-year-old wolf remains to create a near-perfect hybrid.

Today, the dire wolves live in a secure, state-approved wildlife preserve designed to ensure their safety and wellbeing. While the breakthrough is being celebrated as a historic step in science, some can’t help but imagine the chaos if something went wrong—like a collision between Game of Thrones and Jurassic Park.
