We adopted a little boy who was three years old

We adopted a little boy who was three years old – but during his first bath my husband screamed, “We have to give him back!” 😱

Becoming a mother had always been my biggest dream. But life hadn’t been kind to me: years of medical procedures, failed IVF cycles, suppressed tears into my pillow… Finally, we turned to adoption, our last hope of starting a family.

One day, I saw his profile. Sam. Three years old. Sky-blue eyes, a strangely familiar face. The connection was instant, as if I’d already known him in another life.

When he walked into our home, everything finally fell into place. Sam was curious, gentle, affectionate. By the end of the first week, he was already calling me “Mom.” My heart was overflowing with gratitude: after so many trials, we finally had a family.

But one evening, the magic broke.

My husband was bathing Sam, and I watched the scene with excitement. It was a moment of intimacy I wanted to cherish. But a few seconds later, a cry rang out that made my blood run cold:

– “We have to get him back!” 😱

I rushed to the bathroom, my heart pounding. What my husband discovered knocked me off my feet.

In the bathtub, my husband’s hands were shaking. Sam sat in the water, looking innocently at us, not understanding. But the foam on his shoulder had slipped, revealing a dark, clear imprint on his skin.

It wasn’t just a scar. It looked like a burn, a symbol… a strange mark, reminiscent of a tattoo. Impossible for a three-year-old. My heart sank.

“What does this mean?” I whispered.

My husband shook his head, pale.

“They’re hiding something from us…”

We didn’t sleep a wink that night. There was no mention of this sign in the adoption file.

Who was Sam really? Why did we feel like this secret was being deliberately hidden?

In the following days, we searched for answers. Doctors, social workers, old files…

But every door seemed to close in our faces. The more questions we asked, the more evasive their glances became.

Sam continued to smile at us and held out his little hands, seeking comfort.
