Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland has died at the age of 24, just days after scoring his first NFL touchdown during a Monday Night Football matchup. The heartbreaking news was shared Thursday morning by both the Cowboys organization and Kneeland’s agent.

In a statement released on the team’s official Instagram account, the Cowboys expressed their devastation, writing, “It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marshawn Kneeland earlier today.” The message continued, noting that Kneeland was deeply admired by teammates and staff alike, and extended condolences to his girlfriend, Catalina, as well as to his family. At this time, no details regarding the cause of his death have been made public.
Kneeland’s agent, Jonathan Perzley, also confirmed the tragic loss in a personal post, saying he was “shattered” by the news. He reflected on Kneeland’s journey, recalling how he watched him grow from a determined young athlete at Western Michigan University into a respected player on one of the NFL’s most iconic franchises. Perzley praised Kneeland’s dedication, heart, and character, saying his passing leaves an indescribable void.

The timing adds another layer of sadness, as Kneeland’s death comes shortly after the highlight of his NFL career. On Monday night, the defensive end scored his first professional touchdown after recovering a blocked punt in the end zone during Dallas’ 27–17 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Fans and fellow players reacted with shock online, many commenting on the bittersweet timing of his biggest on-field moment followed by his sudden passing.
