The 83rd Golden Globe Awards brought together some of the biggest names in film, television, and entertainment for a night filled with memorable moments — and, as always, a few surprises that quickly caught the internet’s attention.
One such moment came courtesy of legendary rapper and producer Snoop Dogg, who took the stage to present the award for Best Podcast. The category itself was new to the Golden Globes this year, marking the first time podcasts were formally recognized at the prestigious ceremony. While some viewers were puzzled about how the medium fits into an awards show traditionally focused on film and television, the inclusion reflects the growing influence of podcasts — many of which are now hosted by major celebrities.
The inaugural Best Podcast award ultimately went to actress and comedian Amy Poehler for her show The Good Hang. However, it wasn’t the winner announcement that had viewers buzzing — it was Snoop Dogg’s presentation.
Those watching the broadcast noticed that part of Snoop’s remarks were suddenly censored, prompting widespread curiosity about what had been said. Fans immediately took to social media, speculating about the bleeped-out moment and waiting for clarification.

Before the interruption, Snoop was in his element, delivering his remarks with his trademark humor and laid-back charm. He encouraged the audience to relax and enjoy themselves, reminding them that they were at the Golden Globes — or, as he playfully put it, “the double-G’s” — and that they were in the company of the “D-O-double-G.”
He also joked about the significance of the new podcast category, explaining that long before podcasts existed, people listened to him while driving in their cars. He teasingly warned today’s podcasters that they should hope he doesn’t decide to enter the podcast world himself.
Snoop went on to congratulate the Golden Globes for recognizing the medium and praised all podcasters as winners, building toward what seemed like a punchline — before the audio abruptly cut out on the live broadcast.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the reason for the censorship was simple and very on-brand. The line that didn’t make it to television had to do with Snoop admitting he was feeling extremely high after being at the event for so long.
The moment added yet another unforgettable chapter to Golden Globes history, proving once again that when Snoop Dogg takes the mic, unpredictability — and entertainment — are guaranteed.
