The former Police frontman is a proud dad to six, sharing two children with his ex-wife Frances Tomelty and four with his wife of more than 30 years, Trudie Styler.
Sting may be a music icon, but at home he’s simply a father of six — many of whom have carved out creative careers of their own. From a musician son who’s supported him on tour to children thriving in film, TV, and beyond, here’s a closer look at Sting’s family and what they’re up to today.

Joe Sumner
The eldest of Sting’s children, Joe (born 1976) was the first to follow his father into music. A bassist for the band Fiction Plane as well as a solo singer-songwriter, he is one of two children Sting shares with actress Frances Tomelty, whom he was married to from 1976 to 1984.
Recalling Joe’s early years, Sting told Variety in 2023: “Joe would be at rehearsals in his carry cot, propping up the bass drum. He’s never known life without me making an awful lot of noise.”
Joe has since collaborated regularly with his father, including opening for him on tour in 2023 and joining him onstage for performances of classic Police tracks like King of Pain.
Away from music, he shares a son and three daughters with his wife, Kate Finnerty Sumner, and is also a passionate sports fan who co-founded LA-based soccer club City of Angels FC.
Fuschia Kate Sumner
Sting’s only daughter with Frances Tomelty, Fuschia Kate (born 1982) — who goes by Kate — has built an impressive career in film. After studying English literature and drama at the University of the West of England, she moved into acting, directing, and producing.
Her screen credits include Saving Mr. Banks (2013) and Billionaire Boys Club (2018), and she co-directed Everything I Ever Wanted to Tell My Daughter About Men in 2021.
Kate shares a young son with her husband Max Wright. The couple married in a picturesque Sicilian ceremony in 2025, where Sting reportedly delivered a warm and humorous speech, describing his new son-in-law as a “lovely chap.”
Mickey Sumner
Born in 1984, Mickey is the eldest child of Sting and filmmaker Trudie Styler. She’s close with all her siblings and even served as maid of honour at Kate’s wedding, later posting tributes online to “the most beautiful bride.”
Mickey has made a name for herself as an actress, starring in Greta Gerwig’s Frances Ha (2011) and playing Bess Till in the series Snowpiercer (2020–2024).
She shares a son, Akira, with her former husband Chris Kantrowitz. After their separation in 2022, Mickey announced her engagement in 2025 to photographer and director Carter B Smith.
Jake Sumner
Jake (born 1985) seemed destined for filmmaking from birth — quite literally. He appeared as a newborn in his father’s documentary Bring on the Night and later grew into a successful director and producer.
His most notable recent work is the 2023 documentary Rob Delsener Presents, which explores the life of the influential music promoter. Speaking about his upbringing, Jake has said he grew up immersed in his parents’ musical tastes, from The Beatles to Elvis.
He’s also directed music videos for artists such as Bruno Mars and Damien Marley, along with commercial work for major brands including Nike and Carhartt.
Eliot Sumner
Born in 1990, Eliot Sumner blends their parents’ passions for both music and film. They released their debut album The Constant in 2010 under the name I Blame Coco, having started writing songs as a teenager.
Eliot has also built a strong acting résumé, appearing in The Gentlemen (2020), No Time to Die (2021), and the Netflix miniseries Ripley (2024) opposite Andrew Scott.
In addition, they perform as a DJ under the name Vaal and work as a fashion model — recently turning heads in a Balenciaga campaign sporting a very Sting-like leather jacket.
Giacomo Sumner
The youngest of Sting’s children, Giacomo (born 1995), has taken a markedly different path. In 2024, reports revealed that he had joined the Metropolitan Police after earning a criminal justice degree from California Lutheran University.
Despite this career shift, Giacomo has also dipped into acting, with IMDb credits including 10,000 Saints (2015), We’re Going to the Zoo (2006), and American Typecast (2019).
