Once the enigmatic rich schoolgirl who captivated a small town’s darkest secrets and fell for a charming FBI agent, she became one of the most unforgettable stars of 1990s television.
Her breakout role earned her Emmy and Golden Globe nominations, transforming her into a cultural icon almost overnight. Soon after, she posed for Playboy, drawing comparisons to Hollywood legend Ava Gardner and cementing her reputation as a sultry brunette bombshell and pop-culture pin-up.

Off-screen, her life was equally headline-grabbing: a whirlwind three-year romance with a major Hollywood actor she met on the set of a 1985 comedy and a brief but publicized fling with one of music’s biggest stars kept her in the spotlight.

Over the decades, she has continually reinvented herself, appearing in guest roles on iconic TV shows, soap operas, and more recently starring in a cult horror-comedy series.

The actress? It’s Sherilyn Fenn.

At 61, Fenn was spotted keeping it effortlessly casual in Los Angeles on Tuesday. She stepped out to check her mail wearing a pink Jesus T-shirt, gray sweatpants, and pink studded clogs, her hair clipped back and oversized sunglasses shielding her from the California sun. She later topped up her white-and-black Mini Cooper at a gas station before continuing on her errands.

It’s been 36 years since Twin Peaks first aired on ABC, and Fenn’s portrayal of Audrey Horne — the darkly alluring schoolgirl with a secret crush on FBI agent Dale Cooper, played by Kyle MacLachlan — remains legendary. Her sultry 1950s-inspired wardrobe and the iconic cherry-stem scene instantly cemented her status as a cult favorite.

Her Playboy spread in December 1990 further solidified her image as a 90s sex symbol. Though the original series ran only two seasons before its sudden 1991 cancellation, it garnered critical acclaim and award nominations for Fenn. She chose not to return for the 1992 prequel film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me or a planned spin-off centered on Audrey. It wasn’t until 2016 that she reprised her role in the long-awaited third season.

Before fame, Fenn worked briefly as a Playboy Bunny at 19 and appeared in a series of 1980s B-movies, including the skater cult classic Thrashin’ with Josh Brolin and the fantasy-action film The Wraith alongside Charlie Sheen.

Her romantic life made headlines as well. She dated Prince briefly in 1985, but later that year, on the set of the student film Dummies, she met her first great love: Johnny Depp. Their relationship included an engagement, though they eventually parted ways, with Depp moving on to Jennifer Grey. Fenn described Depp as her “first love” and “the love of my life,” publicly supporting him during his legal battles with ex-wife Amber Heard.

Fenn’s filmography is extensive. She appeared in David Lynch’s Wild at Heart alongside Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern, starred in the 1992 adaptation of John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men, and had notable roles in Boxing Helena (1993), Fatal Instinct (1993), and Liz: The Elizabeth Taylor Story (1995). From 1998 to 2001, she led the sitcom Rude Awakening as a faded soap star, and over the years became a familiar guest on Friends, Gilmore Girls, Dawson’s Creek, Law & Order: SVU, Psych, and Shameless.

From 2022 to 2023, Fenn starred in the horror-comedy series Shining Vale alongside Courteney Cox, Greg Kinnear, and Mira Sorvino.

Off-camera, she is a devoted mother to two sons: Myles, 30, from her marriage to musician Toulouse Holliday, and Christian, 17, from her relationship with Dylan Stewart. Despite decades in Hollywood, Fenn continues to balance her career with family life, keeping a low-key presence while still captivating fans old and new.
