Heartfelt words have been shared by Luciana Pedraza following the death of her husband, Robert Duvall, as she honored the man she called her “everything.”

The legendary American actor passed away at 95, with Luciana confirming the news online and describing him as her deeply loved husband. Duvall died at his home in Middleburg, Virginia, on Sunday, February 16.

Over a career spanning six decades, Duvall became one of Hollywood’s most respected performers. A four-time Golden Globe winner, he earned seven Academy Award nominations and took home the Oscar for Best Actor for Tender Mercies in 1983. He also received the National Medal of Arts in 2005, one of the highest artistic honors in the United States.

He was widely recognized for his roles in classics such as The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, To Kill a Mockingbird, and The Natural. Even with only 11 minutes of screen time in Apocalypse Now, his portrayal of the unflinching Colonel Kilgore became one of the film’s most unforgettable performances.

Beyond acting, Duvall was also a skilled singer and composer. Film critic Leonard Maltin once praised him as “one of the most gifted actors to grace the screen,” while Guinness World Records previously recognized him as the world’s most versatile actor.

His passions extended to tango dancing, which he embraced after seeing the stage production Tango Argentina in the 1980s. That love later inspired him to direct Assassination Tango, where he met Luciana in the early 2000s. The pair married in 2005, marking his fourth marriage following earlier unions with Barbara Benjamin, Gail Youngs, and Sharon Brophy.

Shortly before his passing, Duvall reflected on a frightening moment during the filming of Secondhand Lions in 2003, when a lion unexpectedly broke loose on set. He admitted that had the animal turned toward him, he might not have survived — but he also shared how much he enjoyed working alongside director Tim McCanlies and co-stars Haley Joel Osment and Michael Caine.

Born in 1931 in San Diego, California, to an amateur actress and a U.S. Navy rear admiral, Robert Duvall built a legacy that shaped generations of cinema — and, as his wife’s tribute made clear, a life filled with love far beyond the screen.
