Farrah Abraham sparks outrage in a racy desert look alongside goth daughter, 17, at the pyramids in Egypt

Farrah Abraham faced backlash after celebrating her daughter’s 17th birthday with a lavish trip to Egypt, where the pair posed at the famed Great Pyramid of Giza and the nearby Great Sphinx of Giza.

The former Teen Mom star, 34, shared photos of herself alongside her goth-styled daughter, Sophia, while touring the historic site. Abraham drew criticism for wearing a revealing, backless desert ensemble that included a draped yellow scarf and a sheer black skirt, opting to go braless in the conservative setting. Sophia, meanwhile, wore a black dress paired with gold jewelry inspired by Egyptian motifs, detailed hand art, dramatic eye makeup, and her signature voluminous goth hairstyle.

Many social media users questioned Abraham’s outfit choice, pointing out that modest attire is generally encouraged when visiting sacred landmarks in Egypt. Others expressed concern over images of the duo riding camels and horses in the desert, with critics alleging animal mistreatment and calling the posts insensitive.

In a lengthy caption, Abraham referenced geopolitical tensions, writing that she had visited the pyramids “right before” conflict escalated in the region. She also shared messages calling for unity, peace, and support for people in Africa and Arab nations, using hashtags promoting harmony and referencing the Abraham Accords.

During the trip, Abraham and Sophia also got matching hieroglyphic tattoos. Sophia explained on social media that the designs symbolize eternal life and eternal love, incorporating imagery such as the Eye of Ra and the Eye of Horus, along with Arabic script translating to “eternal love.” She described turning 17 in Egypt as a meaningful experience.

The birthday getaway follows previous controversies involving Sophia’s body modifications. Last month, the teen debuted bat tattoos inked across her torso — which Abraham permitted — sparking debate online. The reality star had earlier faced criticism over allowing her daughter to get a septum piercing at 13.

Abraham first rose to fame in 2009 on MTV’s 16 and Pregnant, later becoming one of the franchise’s most polarizing figures before leaving the network in 2018.
