Mariah Carey proved she’s not only the Queen of Christmas — she can make any holiday feel special. Shortly after St. Patrick’s Day, the music icon posted a rare Instagram photo with her 14-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan, and fans quickly noticed the same detail.
St. Patrick’s Day was celebrated in full force this year, from the Chicago River turning bright green to parades and packed pubs across cities like Boston and New York. Even Washington, D.C., joined the festivities with Ireland’s prime minister meeting the U.S. president as part of the annual tradition. The holiday spirit was everywhere — and Carey joined in too.

The singer, who has Irish roots through her mother Patricia, embraced the celebration with her children, whom she shares with ex-husband Nick Cannon. Since Carey rarely posts photos of her kids, the festive snapshot immediately caught fans’ attention.

Dressed in a fitted emerald gown with a thigh-high slit, Carey posed beside green decorations at home. Monroe wore a green T-shirt layered under a black sweatshirt with loose jeans, while Moroccan matched the theme in a green sweatshirt and denim.

Fans quickly commented on how grown up the twins looked — and many pointed out that Moroccan strongly resembles his father. Comments ranged from “He looks just like Nick!” to “That’s Nick’s twin,” while others joked that the kids didn’t inherit much of Carey’s features. Some also praised Carey’s outfit, while others playfully suggested she switch up her style.

Carey and Cannon married in 2008 during a private ceremony in the Bahamas. Three years later, on April 30, 2011, they welcomed fraternal twins Monroe and Moroccan, born via cesarean section at 35 weeks. Carey often calls them “Roc” and “Roe” and has spoken about how much they mean to her. She’s said she tries to keep them close whenever possible, though now that they’re teenagers, they have their own lives.

Though Carey inherited her famous five-octave range from her mother, she says her twins haven’t seriously pursued music yet. They enjoy singing along to songs they like, but for now, it’s just for fun.
Following Carey and Cannon’s 2016 divorce, the two have remained on good terms and co-parent their children. Since then, Cannon has welcomed 10 more children, creating a large blended family. Monroe even clarified on social media that Moroccan is her only full sibling, while her other siblings are much younger half-brothers and sisters.
