Kathy Bates turned heads in Los Angeles as she stepped onto the red carpet looking elegant and confident, showing off her slimmer figure at a star-filled charity gala.
The 77-year-old Oscar-winning actress attended the 29th Annual UCLA Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation’s Taste For A Cure event at the Fox Studio Lot on Friday, May 1, where she posed for photos in a polished all-white outfit.

Bates wore a tailored double-breasted blazer over a coordinating blouse, paired with a flowing pleated skirt that added softness to the structured look. She completed the ensemble with matching shoes, a small handbag, oversized sunglasses, and a sleek updo, creating a chic modern finish.

The annual fundraiser attracted a number of notable guests, including Ryan Seacrest, Carrie Underwood, Yara Shahidi, media executive Dana Walden, and Byron Allen with wife Jennifer Lucas.

The evening honored George Cheeks while raising support for the UCLA Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation’s cancer research and patient care efforts. Bates also joined Cheeks onstage during the event.

Bates has previously spoken openly about her health journey, which began after she was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2017. Concerned by her family history with the disease, she said the diagnosis motivated her to make lasting lifestyle changes.

Rather than relying on quick solutions, the actress focused on healthier habits, including diet adjustments and increased movement. She has also shared that GLP-1 medication helped her lose the final portion of weight after years of steady progress.

Bates has said the transformation has improved her quality of life, allowing her to move more easily, breathe better, and enjoy herself again — something clearly reflected in her joyful presence on the red carpet.
