The actress adopted Jackson Theron in 2012 and her younger daughter August Theron in 2015.
The 50-year-old Oscar winner appeared this week on The Drew Barrymore Show, where she revealed that her children have changed the way she feels about dating. According to People, Theron candidly spoke about how her personal life has shifted now that her children are older.
“My kids are at the age now where they really like the idea of me dating someone. They want me to have a personal life,” she said. “It’s funny because I used to worry it would scare them, and now they’re saying, ‘Mom, is he texting you? Come on, Mom, go on a date.’”

However, the actress said their encouragement has not changed her views on relationships. Charlize admitted she does not see herself sharing a home with a man again.
“I’m completely serious when I say this — even though people think I’m joking — I don’t think I could ever live with someone again,” she told host Drew Barrymore. “I’d love for a future partner to be nearby, maybe buy a house down the street, but actually living together? No, I’m not ready for that.”

She added that her perspective could still change in the future.
“Maybe it’s because my kids still live with me, and maybe I’ll feel differently once they grow up and leave home,” she said.
For now, Charlize appears content creating a life that works on her own terms, balancing motherhood, independence, and the possibility of romance without compromising her comfort. Her candid comments show that relationships can take many forms, and happiness doesn’t always have to follow a traditional path.
