Buying their own apartment has been this family’s dream for many years.
However, the cost of housing in new buildings turned out to be unaffordable, and after much deliberation, they made a difficult but conscious decision to buy an apartment in an old Khrushchev-era building.
The search for a suitable option was accompanied by many doubts.
Secondary housing often requires significant investment in repairs, but suddenly a promising option appeared on the horizon: an apartment in a good area, inherited from an elderly owner.
Despite the interior, the main space was light and the layout allowed for remodeling.
At the time of purchase, the apartment looked depressing: peeling wallpaper, creaming wooden floors, old furniture and rare household appliances that had long since stopped working.
But rather than being intimated by the amount of work ahead, the family saw it as a challenge and an opportunity to create the home of their dreams.
To stay within budget, the couple decided to do the renovation themselves, enlisting the support of relatives and friends. One of the main issues was re-planning the space so that the apartment would become as functional as possible.
Combining the kitchen and living room:
The wall between these rooms was dismantled, which made it possible to create a spacious recreation area.
Now the kitchen flows smoothly into the living room, and natural light from two windows fills the entire room, creating a feeling of freedom and comfort.
The recreation area featured a comfortable sofa in a deep dark color. A soft carpet added to the cozy atmosphere, and a white dining table with an unusual print became a stylish accent.
One of the doors from the living room leads to a compact but cozy bedroom with minimalist design.
The second door used to hide a small storage room, but it was converted into a full-fledged dressing room, where all the necessary clothes and shoes are now stored.
After several months of work, the apartment was transformed beyond recognition.
