Bikers come into an abandoned cage, and what they find inside changes their lives forever.

When I think about humans who would harm animals or even abandon them to die, I am sad. Fortunately, there are heroes out there as well. I’d want to thank Bret Winingar and his son Zach.

Bret and Zach were riding a motorcycle through the back roads of Little Rock, Arkansas, when they came across an old dog carrier.

Their interest was piqued, so they took a closer look. Surprisingly, there was a badly starved dog inside.

The carrier was coated with feces, and the dog had eaten a hole through it in an apparent attempt to release herself.

The father and son left the dog for a short while…

…And returned in a car with dog food and water.

Bret and Zach decided to call her Charlie Bravo.

Even before they arrived home, the dog began to express her gratitude to her rescuers.

The first thing Bret and Zach did was trim Charlie Bravo’s claws. They had grown so long while she was in the cage that they curled inward, making walking difficult for the dog.

Following that, it was time for a bath.

Then they took Charlie to the veterinarian.

The veterinarian assessed that she was roughly eight months old. Based on the lesions on Charlie’s body, the vet assumed she had been in the carrier for a long time.

Charlie Bravo’s story soon circulated via Facebook. Bret and Zach immediately began receiving donations from caring individuals who wanted to assist pay for Charlie’s veterinary expenses.

Bret and his family donated the remaining funds to other animal charities and established a new fund for rescued animals known as “Charlie’s Angels.”

Bret, who hadn’t even considered keeping Charlie, couldn’t bring himself to give the puppy away. Since rescuing Charlie, Bret and his family have adopted three more rescued dogs.
