The Art of Restyling: Transforming Old Furniture into Unique Interior Masterpieces

“I am not so much engaged in restoration – resurrection from the ashes of old furniture, but in restyling – repainting, updating, developing the design of fully functional furniture. I got interested in this after I saw several interesting posts on Instagram about repainting furniture. This was two and a half years ago. At first, I painted things at home, then I began to take orders from clients, and over time I rented a studio-workshop and began to teach people the art of furniture restyling.”

According to Margarita, people who come to her for repainting are divided into two categories: some want to furnish their home on a budget with interesting items that are very expensive in stores, and the second category is those who want to preserve the history of their family by taking old chairs or chests of drawers out of the attic and giving them a second life. Therefore, she has enough clients.

“Recently, I started looking for furniture on sales websites. I transform it to my taste and sell it. The items are unique, with their own character, they become the “highlights” of any interior. Recently, I have even started receiving orders from various restaurants and bars that want to decorate their interiors with interesting things. Over time, I had to involve assistants in repainting, who work under my supervision. We go to the sites together, for example, we paint clients’ interior doors, furniture in hallways, kitchens and bathrooms.”
