White snakehead grass
Also known as “white tongue grass,” “snake grass,” or “boa grass,” it grows year-round in damp, shady areas, often along roads or near bodies of water. Snakes have been observed frequently where this grass grows.
Purple Cassia
The fruits of this plant are sweet and attract small animals – mice, squirrels, porcupines. And snakes, in turn, hunt mice.
If you have cassia growing in your area, especially during the fruiting season, your risk of encountering a snake near it increases.
Fragrant flowers
(passionflower, jasmine, cosmos, morning glory)
These flowers in their natural environment can attract snakes with their scent. However, if you fertilize them with chemicals, snakes will avoid such places.
How to prevent snakes from appearing in the house?
Snakes come where there is shelter, food and water. To protect your home, eliminate these three factors:

– snakes feed on mice and rats, so keep your house clean, especially pantries and basements.
🔹Cut the grass regularly
– snakes like to hide in tall grass, thickets and bushes.
🔹Seal cracks and holes
– inspect the walls, roof, vents and cracks under doors.
🔹Don’t leave open water
– puddles, old buckets, broken flower pots can become a source of water for snakes and a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
🔹Be aware of snake skin
– if you find a shed snake skin in your garden or near your home, it is a sign that there may be a snake nearby. Notify your family and avoid these areas.
