When we decided to restore my grandmother’s old things, her old chair was the first one on the list. This piece of furniture held so many memories that it was simply impossible to throw it away.
However, its condition left much to be desired: the varnish was completely worn off, the paint was peeling, and the wood was cracked and deformed in places.
The work began with a thorough cleaning and disassembly of the chair. All damaged wooden elements were sanded and strengthened, and we decided to completely restore the back, returning it to its original shape and strength.
After that, it was time for varnishing: we chose a noble shade that emphasized the natural texture of the wood.
But we didn’t want the chair to look too formal, so we decided to replace the hard wooden seat with a soft one.
We chose a fabric in white and blue tones, which gave the chair lightness and freshness. The seat acquired a comfortable lining, making it more to sit on.
When the work was completed, the result amazed us. From a dilapidated, almost falling apart piece of furniture, we created a stylish and cozy interior element.
And most importantly, grandma was pleased! She remembered with a smile how this chair once stood in her living room in her youth, and now it has found a new life and once again occupies a place of honor in her home.
