A 1,547-square-foot home is selling for significantly more than expected.
The average home size in Florida is reported to be roughly 1,700 square feet, making this property quite small.
In fact, it is barely 10 feet wide and two stories high, with the majority of the property planned in a single straight line.

You’d think a home of this size wouldn’t be so pricey, but it’s presently advertised for $619,000.
Located in South Jacksonville Beach, the ‘unique’ house is described as being on a ‘narrow but deep lot’ and might be suitable for anyone looking for ‘a minimal maintenance and energy efficient home that comes with a builder backed warranty’, according to the description.
The house appears to be inoffensive, yet its building ruffled a few local feathers.

Apparently, the lot it was built on had previously been used as a garden by a neighbor, so they were not thrilled to find that a home was being built there.
The dissatisfied neighbor and other neighbors subsequently attended a public meeting to express their concerns, which resulted in the board disallowing any changes to the land.
This meant that the builder could only build a 10ft wide home rather than the original 15ft wide one.
The builder evidently planned to build the house ‘out of spite’ in response to the neighbors’ objections.

Listing agent Ryan Wetherhold of Oceanside Real Estate told Business Insider, “What you can do on these smaller lots is go in front of a board of adjustment, and they’ll let you build more than the building code permits.”
Noting that the builder lost the vote to expand the property, he added: “To be honest, the builder almost built this out of spite just because of that fact, ‘Oh, you don’t think we can build, hold my beer.'”
Despite not getting his way, the builder was able to produce a livable home, which is larger than it appears from the front.

At first glance, the residence appears to be a luxurious doll’s house, but it actually has two bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and a garage large enough for one automobile.
Its attraction is also enhanced by the fact that much of the furniture, including the beds, dining table, and bedside tables, is already built in.
The listing goes on to say that the backyard could be large enough to build a pool in.
Not bad for a dwelling that’s only 10 feet wide.
