Mom With 800 Tattoos Reveals Heartbreaking Reason She Cannot Celebrate Christmas With Her Seven Children

A 47-year-old mother has become a viral phenomenon due to her remarkable beauty. She is known as the UK’s most tattooed woman, with over 800 tattoos covering her entire body from head to foot. While her passion for ink is evident, the reality of living with such a distinctive appearance has provided her with significant obstacles, particularly during the holidays.

An inked identity that divides opinions.

Melissa Sloan is a caring mother of seven children from Kidderminster, United Kingdom. She enjoys getting tattoos and has quite a few. Over 800 abstract and unique designs cover her entire body. While her tattoos are a source of personal pride, they frequently elicit intense responses from others. She confesses that they make her life harder over the holidays.

“It’s meant to be a time of joy and celebration,” Melissa says. She adds that due to the people’s critical looks, her Christmas meal with the kids may not take place.

Despite her joyous aspirations, the public’s reactions have rendered the mission nearly difficult. Especially from supermarket employees. Melissa claims that the staff frequently stares at her with anxiety, making her hesitant to shop for necessities such as cranberry sauce and turkey.

Melissa feels like she doesn’t fit in.

Melissa’s difficulties extend beyond stares. She believes her tattoos have prevented her from participating in normal activities, particularly during the holiday season. Even simple outings have become uncomfortable.

“I feel like I scare the supermarket workers,” Melissa explained. “They’ve given me terrified looks as I’ve walked by in the past.” To get over the issue, she intends to send her husband and children to conduct their Christmas shopping. However, she sees this option as less than desirable.

Being heavily tattooed has impacted her life in many ways.

Melissa’s challenges with being totally tattooed extend to other facets of her life. She remembers being prohibited from attending her children’s performance. She had to watch it from a window instead. Attending festive events such as carol services or holiday feasts at pubs has also become almost impossible.

“Going to the pub is out of the question,” Melissa admits. A recent attempt to have a Christmas drink ended suddenly when tensions rose.

Finding a job is a daunting task.

Melissa also struggles with her job search. She used to work as a toilet cleaner, but now she alleges companies discriminate against her because of her tattoos and refuse to hire her. According to Melissa, she just applied for a cleaning job but was turned down due to her tattoos. She remarked that her tattoos appear to overpower her motivation to work. At this point, she is open to accepting any employment offer that comes her way.

She also struggled to locate a driving instructor. They either turned her away or appeared terrified of her. These events have made her wish for a more tolerant society.

Melissa wishes people were more kind to her.

Melissa wants to be accepted as she is. “Just because I’m covered head to toe in tattoos doesn’t mean I don’t deserve respect and kindness,” she explains.

Her tattoos, while unique, do not define who she is as a person. Melissa believes that by exposing her hardships, others may reevaluate their prejudices and accept diversity. “I should be able to go to Tesco with my kids and get some Christmas basics. Unfortunately, it is simply not doable. Melissa’s tale highlights the discrimination suffered by people who do not comply to cultural expectations.
