Many people believe that it is too late to become a mother after 30. For Erramatti Mangayama from India, these ideas never mattered.

She believed that motherhood was not a question of age. And in 2019, at the age of 74, she became a mother for the first time.

Erramatti was born and raised in a small village. At the age of 16, she married Raja, who was then 20. The couple lived a long and loving life, but were unable to have children.

For decades, they turned to many doctors, hoping for a miracle, but at 40 years old, the woman heard a terrible diagnosis – infertility.

Early menopause put an end to all dreams of having children. Some doctors even advised Raja to find another woman to have children, but he refused – his love for Erramatti was stronger than anything else.

Years passed. But in 2018, something happened in the village that rekindled hope in the heart of Erramatti. One of the local women became a mother through IVF – in vitro fertilization.

Hearing this, Erramatti was filled with hope. She again turned to specialists, underwent all the examinations, and the doctors gave an unexpected but encouraging answer: with a donor egg, there is a chance.

The procedure was carried out and months later twins, Umu and Ramu, were born.

They were born at 38 weeks by Caesarean section. Each of the babies weighed about two kilograms. The mother, of course, did not have milk, but the girls were fed with formula.

A year after the girls were born, Raja died of a heart attack.

Erramatti took the loss hard, but despite the pain, she continued to raise her daughters, protecting them and giving them all her love.

“I have already made arrangements with a kind man in our village. If something happens to me, he will take care of my girls,” she admitted.
