This morning I noticed this huge black spot in the corner of the wall in the living room 😲 At first I thought it was dirt or dust and tried to remove the stain with a rag, but I couldn’t 😲 And then I realized that it wasn’t just a stain, but…
I’ll tell you what it is and how to get rid of a black spot if you’ve also noticed it in your home 😱 Continued in the first comment 👇👇
Sometimes you may notice a small black spot in the corner of a wall. At first it seems insignificant – like dirt or dust. But over time it grows, darkens and may begin to smell musty.
This may be a sign of a more serious problem inside the walls. Although there is no need to panic, such a stain cannot be ignored either. The main thing is to take timely measures to stop the spread and return the home to a healthy atmosphere.
What causes these black spots? Most often, it is high humidity. Moisture accumulates in poorly ventilated rooms: bathrooms, kitchens, or unventilated bedrooms.
When moist air comes into contact with cold walls, condensation occurs – an ideal environment for mold to grow.
External leaks (such as from a damaged roof or gutter) or moisture rising from the foundation can also be the cause. Poor insulation also plays a role, creating cold spots where moisture settles most easily.
Another often overlooked point is furniture placement. If cabinets or sofas are pressed tightly against the walls, the air behind them does not circulate, and mold can develop there.
If you notice a dark spot, act immediately. Start with regular airing in the morning and evening – even in winter. This will help reduce the humidity level.
Surface stains can be cleaned with a solution of vinegar and warm water, while more stubborn stains can be treated with hydrogen peroxide.
Important: do not use vinegar on natural stone surfaces to avoid damaging them. It is also worth moving furniture away from the walls at least a few centimeters.
If the humidity problem persists, a dehumidifier or moisture absorber will come in handy.
