As the forklift swerved off the edge, he attempted to leap free, but the heavy apparatus slid beneath him, pinning him. The lower portion of his body was totally destroyed. Loren chose to fight when physicians offered him the impossible choice: undergo drastic surgery to survive or die.
Surviving such tragedy was just the beginning. Loren awoke to a body that was no longer entire, and his life would never be the same.

Sabia remained with Loren from the accident until his recuperation, and the two eventually married.
