One frosty November evening, Anna and Theo were walking home from dinner with friends. Snow was falling softly under the streetlights when the sound of a baby crying broke the silence.
“Do you hear?” Anna asked.
“It’s a baby,” Theo replied, looking around.
They followed the sound to a park bench. A newborn baby was crying under an old blanket. Anna carefully picked him up.
– He’s barely a month old… How can you abandon such a fragile creature?
At home, they changed the baby, fed him, and immediately called social services. Anna could hardly hold back her tears – she and Theo had long dreamed of a child.
Three months later, without having found the biological parents, Anna and Theo were able to officially adopt the girl. They named her Lina… But a surprise was waiting for them ahead…
As the years went by, Lina grew up in a loving family. At 17, she graduated from school with honors and dreamed of becoming a teacher.
There was a knock on the door at the post-prom party.
Theo opened the door. Two strangers walked unsteadily into the house.
“Congratulations on your diploma, daughter!” the woman exclaimed.
“We are your real parents,” the man added.
Lina was shocked and asked them about it. Anna told the whole story. Shocked, Lina answered firmly:
– You left me alone on the bench. My family is here.
Later, wanting to understand her roots, Lina found her biological mother, who lived in poverty with her three children.
The eldest, Elias, a withdrawn teenager, moved in with Anna and Theo. With their encouragement, he went to university and began to open up. He took up music and reading, passions he had previously neglected.
Anna gave him his first guitar, which he never parted without. On weekends, the whole family would have picnics in the park where they found Lina. One day, Elias said quietly:
— I didn’t have a real family like you before.
Theo, with a gleam in his eyes, replied:
– Now you’re home.
After their mother’s death, Lina and her adoptive parents took in the younger children, Liam and Maya.
In this loving family, they were able to heal from their past. As adults, they dedicated themselves to helping others by becoming psychologists.
