I noticed a man with a wounded leg on the street and offered to call an ambulance, but he asked for my phone number and made a strange call 😱😢
I was hurrying to work, late as usual. It was windy outside, the asphalt was still wet after the night rain. I was running across the road when I suddenly noticed a man on the edge of the sidewalk. He was about forty. He was sitting leaning against the wall, breathing heavily. His trousers were torn at the knee, and his leg was covered in blood.

Passers-by walked by as if they hadn’t seen him at all. Some were talking on the phone, some were eating on the go, some looked at him and turned away. But I couldn’t walk by. Something in his gaze stopped me.
– Are you feeling unwell? Did you fall? – I leaned towards him.
He nodded slightly and tried to straighten up, but immediately cringed in pain.
“Let me call an ambulance,” I was already taking out my phone.
“No, don’t,” his voice was hoarse and tired. “Please, don’t call there. I… can handle it.”
-Are you absolutely sure? You’re bleeding, you can’t walk… – I frowned. – Why don’t you want to go to the hospital?
He looked away for a moment, as if he was considering something.

— Can I just call a friend? My phone is dead. One call and that’s it.
I became wary and hesitantly handed him my phone. He dialed the number quickly, as if he knew it by heart, and, moving slightly to the side, said:
– Hello. It’s me. Can you?.. Yes. Urgently.
He whispered something else, returned the phone to me and smiled slightly:
– Thank you. You are very kind.
I nodded and almost ran away, not knowing why a strange feeling of anxiety had appeared inside me. Maybe because everything was… too mysterious.
But then something unexpected happened 😱😱

Several days passed. I had already forgotten about this incident when suddenly I received a call from an unknown number.
– Hello. We saw each other on the street recently, and you gave me your phone number.
I freeze for a second.
– Yes… I remember. Is everything okay?
– Thanks to you – yes. You can’t even imagine how much you helped me at that moment. If it weren’t for your phone – everything could have ended very badly. Thank you. And if you ever need help – call. I’m in your debt.
— Have you been to the hospital?
– No. But… I’ll say it this way – I figured it out. And you turned out to be that rare person who didn’t pass by. There are few like that.
He didn’t explain the details, and I didn’t ask. For some reason, my heart felt warm. Sometimes, you just give someone your phone… and it changes their life.
