At her summer celebration in Providence, R.I., 29-year-old Bianca Corso received a handsewn “getting-ready” dress crafted from two priceless fabrics — one taken from her late mother’s wedding gown and the other from her mother-in-law’s own bridal dress.

The unexpected gesture deeply honored Corso’s mother, Marie, who tragically passed away in 2016 just weeks after being diagnosed with stage 4 liver and lung cancer.
“Losing your mom at 20 is incredibly hard,” Corso shared. “Grief doesn’t end — it just comes in waves.”

Now preparing for her wedding in Tuscany in October 2025, Corso says the dress not only carries the memory of her late mother but also symbolizes the warmth and support of the new maternal figure in her life.
Bianca and her fiancé, Alex, have been together for nearly a decade, and while planning a wedding without her mother has been painful, she finds comfort in the bond she has built with her mother-in-law, Sharon.

Though she knew Sharon intended to make her a special dress, Corso never expected the powerful sentimental touch of combining both wedding gowns. “Feeling the beading from my mom’s dress and knowing she wore them made me so emotional and nostalgic,” she said.

On her wedding day, Bianca also plans to honor her mother with reserved seating at the ceremony, her favorite perfume, and cherished photos on display — ensuring her presence is felt throughout.

“For me, it means everything to carry pieces of both women with me,” Corso said. “It’s like having my mom’s touch with me on the most important morning of my life.”
